Catalog computer again

Marcia noticed that when the login screen comes up, if you just click restart the computer goes right to the catalog.

Settings for Computer catalog

I had Jewel solve the problem of the computer catalog that changes from color to black and white.
These are the instructions:
-Click on System Preferences
-Click on System
-Click on Universal Access
-Switch to... (Set to Grayscale)

Grab Bags

Could you put together two bags for our Grab Bag program? We will have it on Wednesday morning and Friday too if needed.

Paperbacks

Certain paperbacks aren't fitting. Kathryn will assign a page to remove ones that are in bad condition. We can then re-evaluate the letters and possibly have a higher range on some racks. Labels can be made on the label maker. Tech knows how to do this.

Mending slips

I will put the new mending slips in the top right drawer. Any item to go to mending needs to be signed off by a librarian and needs it's status changed to mending. With all of Kathy's added responsibilities, she is getting behind on even quick tasks such as spine labels.

Grab bags again

We will start the grab bag program on Tuesday morning because Monday is registration. The circulation desk will put the bag in a plastic bag in the case of rain. We also need to change status on the items to Children's Department, in case the material is being searched on the hold list. We hope that bags will be returned, we'll have to wait and see.

Sylvia has given us a friendly reminder that when ordering in B&T, put notes in the note field when necessary. (Duplicate copy, replace mending, show to librarian, yellow stripe,Holiday, etc.)

Babytime

I think that, depending on your classroom schedule,Paula, we will have you start a Babytime group in the Winter-5 weeks of Toddler and maybe 4 of Baby and do the same for Spring and the following Fall. I think that since we are all here next Friday, we could have you visit Barnes and Nobles' baby group with Grandma Fay. I remember seeing Mastiches, Moriches and Shirley Library's babytime being a mostly music time!

Grab Bag program

Katie will be decorating a Grab Bag on Saturday. I will also have Katie make a poster advertising the program. I have talked to Lorri and Val about starting this program and they thought it would be fine. I will bring it up in the staff meeting on Thursday. I have printed out a paper on what we can include in each bag for different age groups. We will each take an age group and then we will all work on Gr. 4 and up. Paula- Toddler, Marcia- Preschool, Becky- Grades 1-3. If this program works, we will continue it and make adjustments as necessary.

September!

September is approaching rapidly. Our new Google calendar is online. I will still make a copy for each of us. However, changes to the schedule should be done by each person. Paula- start thinking about calling the schools. Hopefully, they will remember and contact us. Then your schedule will get crazy!

New Laptops

Forensics program

Does the Science museum have a cancellation policy for if we don't fill up the programs? We will give Katie the rest of the tickets and when someone signs up for Reading Club, she will give them to people. This might help get a larger registration. Also, can this program be opened for adults if we don't give away all the tickets? Jane asked me this.

New book cart

I put the storytime bib books on the first side of the new book cart. In the left pile on the second side, I put books that need changes. Books on the right are questions from this cart and the previous cart.

Catalog computer

The far catalog computer can be logged in with the North Tonawanda Public Library login and the 5n password. Once you are logged in, double-click on the icab 3.03 folder and then click on the icab icon. This should bring up the catalog.

Forensics program

Could we give the tickets to Katie for the Forensics program? Do they need to register? It's been so busy today, it might be easier if we were to allow Katie to hand them out.

Spruce School Reading Lists

Hi,
I called up Spruce School for the summer reading lists and Peggy picked them up. They are in the lower right hand desk drawer.

Mike Randall program

They're calling for r--- tomorrow morning that should diminish by PM. Grass might be wet. You can give plastic garbage bags to people, or just bring the program inside to Magazine area. It might be easier to move RIF books. Just have Friends put them on book carts during the program and move them back once it is over. I will give Reference a heads up that Mike Randall "might" be invading their space. There are 3 of them in the AM so it shouldn't be a problem. I also mentioned this all to our Mike.

Grandfriends program

I am giving a sign-up sheet to Katie for our Grandfriends program. I will have her encourage preschool - Grade 3 children as they register. I have sent a news release only to the Foster Grandparents program.

Printer ready SRC

Nora is striving to get everything ready for the printer. Please give everything to her on or before Thursday evening when she is working. Once we have everything to the printer, we can breathe again. Hopefully we will have everything back from the printer in quick order so that Nora and some of the pages can get the SRC packets put together.
